Craft and War

This is an oil on wood painting inspired by the mythological goddess Athena. This is a representation of Athena's internal battle of balancing her crafting ability and warlike mindset. She implements her strategic plans from a feminine perspective. Within my own painting, I display her crafts through the draping tapestry, intricate pottery, and delicate painting on the box. Each surface within this composition created some sense of shine, balancing the harsh shapes on the metal gear and the softer gloss look of the glass pot had a direct correlation with Athena's struggle. The complimentary background and tablecloth create a pleasing contrast with the complex objects in the foreground.
